Now, More than Ever

Meanwhile, as Luke unloads packages on the van lines, another coworker named Jack walks over..

Jack: What’s up with you?
Luke: Same old shit my dude..
Jack: Chillin?
Luke: I’m working.
Jack: You chillin?
Luke: Like I said, I’m working.
Jack: Ight sport.
Luke: Please don’t call me that.
Jack: I’m just messing with you bro.
Luke: I’m asking you to stop messing with me because, one, I never mess with you, two, I been extremely nice towards you, three, I been messed with my whole life way more than average, four, I’m 10 years older than you and since I’m now 29 years old, I now, more than ever, have to stop letting people just constantly mess with me!
Jack: But you need to chill my G! You need to chill out yo! I’m just trying to be friendly with you! You too serious!!
Luke: You say you’re trying to be “friendly”.. So why does it always sound aggressive whenever you address me then?
Jack: But I don’t mean it like that!
Luke: But it sounds like you do mean it like that..
Jack: Oh my God man!! Take it easy bro! For real!!
Luke: Well if you keep doing it I’m telling HR.
Jack: Ight.. be like that.
Luke: I will be like that because it’s every fucking day you asshole!

Jack walks away and Luke looks for his boss before deciding to go to Human Resources..

Luke: May you tell Jack to stop busting my balls..?
Boss: What did he say?
Luke: Every day he aggressively is like “what’s up with you!?” and now he just called me “sport”.
Boss: It sounds like he’s trying to be friendly.
Luke: He’s not. He’s trying to bother me and he keeps doing it because I’m quiet and a nice person.
Boss: You sure?
Luke: I am totally sure.
Boss: Look, if you see him, just walk away like I told you before alright?
Luke: I do try to avoid him as much as I can but he doesn’t leave me alone! And I’m telling you, it’s every day!
Boss: Please get back to work.
Luke: You want me to report your ass as well!?
Boss: Do you want to get fired?
Luke: Serious?
Boss: Yeah I’m serious. Please get back to work, or you’re fired.

Luke goes to HR..

Luke: Hi I would like to report a coworker named Jack for harassment.
HR guy: How is he harassing you?
Luke: Whenever I pass by him he gives me these aggressive comments.. He’ll be like “what’s up with you!?” and then he’ll call me names like “sport”, just to get a reaction out of me..
HR guy: And you are sure he’s not trying to be friendly? You sure he’s not trying to connect with you in his own idiosyncratic way?
Luke: I am absolutely sure he’s not. And I am sure that he’s trying to bother me to extract a reaction out of me to entertain himself and boost his ego.
HR guy: Okay so, thank you for letting us know. We’ll call him in to have a talk and we’ll make sure he never does this again.
Luke: Thanks.
HR guy: You betcha.

And then after a few days pass, Luke encounters Jack again..

Jack: Ay yo why the fuck did you report me!?
Luke: Because you wouldn’t stop when I asked you to.. and I said, if you keep doing it, I’m reporting you.
Jack: Ight well now imma knock your ass out!

Jack charges at Luke who physically defends himself. Afterwards, Jack becomes fired and Luke quits. Then Luke’s mom helps him search for other jobs.. Once.. Again..
